As a keynote speaker at the Career, Education and Settlement Fair, I will be talking about “8 Key Steps to Getting Hired”. There are many newly arrived immigrants and other Canadians who have the skills but are lacking that little edge to get into the workplace.
This one day free session presented by the Canadian Immigrant Magazine and Scotia Bank will be held on December 16, 2013, at the Vancouver Public Library – 350 W. Georgia from 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
These “8 Key Steps” will allow an individual to have a better understanding of how to make First Impressions count to know the importance of Soft Skills in the workplace. In addition, understanding what is an Elevator Pitch to how to answer complicated questions during an interview.
At the fair there will be many other experts who specialized in the following:
Afshan Basaria – “Making the Most of Foreign Credentials
Silvia Dibasio – “Strategic Volunteering Can Help You Gain Canadian Experience and the Job You Want”.
Andy Krieger – “Accent Reduction Workshop: 5 Step Method”
In addition, at the Career, Educations and Settlement Fair there will be a resume clinic put on by the Immigrant Services Society of B.C. which will allow the attendees to attain personal assistance on their resume. Plus there will be mentoring sessions, and various job fair booths.
This is an important event not only for new immigrants but all Canadians in the areas of employment, education and settlement.
